07/25/02 - I wanted to take a minute to tell you I was just out with my cup of coffee admiring my lovely fuchsias. It's early and the sun is preparing for a very warm day here in Southern California. Of all my fuchsias the two I ordered from you are the most spectacular! I got Cardinal and Blush of Dawn. Cardinal has grown far beyond my expectations and the blooms are just now beginning to open. I'm a little disappointed because from the picture it appeared as though they would be all red. However, it is red outside and purple inside. Nonetheless, it is spectacular! 07/26/02 - I was pleased to find my fuschia in good condition, and that you'd sent two of THREE of the varieties! thank you! I was a LITTLE disappointed to not receive my Pink Marshmallow, but you did substitute the Frank Unsworth, which should be nice. Overall quite pleased. I've waited the week to repot them, as suggested, spritzing them daily. They look a little weak, but it's awfully hot here. I do have them in the shade, however. - C Weideman TX

07/03/02 - The plants arrived today, just a few minutes ago. We unpacked them, and removed the plastic and watered them. I have them in my office room for now where they have light, but not direct sun light. The pots they are in appear to be about 2" pots. We will purchase some 4" pots to transplant them to in about a week, as per the instructions you sent with the plants. How long should we leave them in the 4" pots before transplanting them into the ground? All the plants appear to be in good condition, and we are trying to follow all of your instructions, as we really want them to grow. - M Whitten CA

The others bit the dust I am afraid. The Swingtime plants are doing really well. I am thinking that maybe I should have tried to acclaimate them to the New Orleans weather first. Arrival comments: Plants arrived 5/30/02. Plants were a little wilted from the heat. Took them in the house and the rubber bands off and watered each plant letting them sit in the plastic wrap for several hours so the soil and plants could soak up extra water. After about 2 1/2 hours I removed the plastic to let the plants drain. All plants seemed to have picked up with some having very strong stems. All plants seemed to have survived the shipping, even in 100 degree (today) temperature. Thank you for the healthy plants. - O Balzer CA

Invoice No. 12217 - I received my 2 Jingle Bell and 3 Voodoo fuchsia's yesterday afternoon. I was home when they arrived and immediately opened them. The Jingle Bell's were in good shape, the voodoo's (no pots) had some damage. One of them had a branch broken off. It appears the rubber band broke and the plastic bag was able to spread out and offered no support to the plant. I transplanted the 3 voodoos's into a basket and will see how they do. I think it'll be fine. The plants I ordered last time (several weeks back) are doing great and beginning to flower. I look forward to beautiful fuchsia's in the weeks to come. - J Ensell FL

Hi, the plants just arrived. I have taken them out of the box and they seem to be in really good condition. There doesn't seem to be any bad leaves. It is storming outside so it is impossible for me just this minute to get the 3 unpotted ones into a pot. As soon as the rain subsides to where I can get to my things I will pot them up. I am well pleased with my plants and am now anxious for blooms to develop I live in a peculiar area in northeast Texas that I consider borderline zone 8a/8b. In fact, last fall, I failed to lift some tuberous begonias and noticed earlier this week that one had wintered over and sprouted!!!!! As luck would have it, I was home for lunch when they arrived, so they didn't have to stay outside in the horrible heat in their box, I unpacked them and left them inside. They all looked great, not dried out at all. They were all potted up last night and watered, and look just fine this morning, a couple are blooming like crazy! Having only recently come to the realization (better late than never) that fuchsias are not just hanging baskets to be tossed at the end of the season, I'm thrilled to get so many different named varieties, different types, etc. I just wish there were some that are actually hardy here, but then I'm always hoping that about something (I have a crepe myrtle that I bring into the garage for the winter...)
